Perfecting Forgiveness
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who lived in a land of gloom a light has shone. —Isaiah 9:2 RSV
Some 300 lights are turned on every evening to light Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. People on the ground can look up towards the mountain where “Cristo” stands illuminated. This can be likened to seeing the Light of Christ.
On a mountain about 20 miles away from Cristo, radio towers are visible. These can broadcast worldwide the Good News of the Gospel of Christ, thus allowing for hearing the Light of Christ.
Throngs of people ascend the mountain to see Cristo. Those who truly know Jesus will go forth to shine His light to others. In this way they are touching others with the Light of Christ.
Seeing, hearing, touching — His Light is transformative to those living in the land of gloom.
PRAYER
Jesus Light of the World, let all people see, hear, and touch you this day.
QUOTE
The lamp set upon the lamp stand is Jesus Christ, the true light from the Father, the light that enlightens every man who comes into the world.
//St. Maximus the Confessor (580-662 A.D.)
THOUGHT
How am I seeing and hearing Him this day? How am I touching others with His Light?
