What is an Orthobro?
Before we get started, please read my previous article, here; Bah humbug! Since it is still technically Christmas season, if you want me to have a Merry Christmas, consider helping me out, here; Help with Medical Bills, and keep a look out for my first book, called "Elisabeth and the otherman".
I'm waiting for Mass to start. (I tend to write down my articles before I type them) My goodness, are there a lot of people here. So, I'm going to try to prevent autistic overload;Life as an autistic Catholic
It doesn't help that I'm also partially deaf.
Anyway, I was going through the readings for the Christmas Vigil, and I stumbled upon Isaiah 62:1-5, and, I'm going to use the King James Version, because, well, there's no copyright;
“For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all the kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.
Thou shalt also bee a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken neither shall thy land anymore be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be call Hephzi-bah, and thy land shall be married.
For, as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and as a bridegroom rejoice over the bride, so shall God rejoice over thee.”
Well, that's interesting, given that I just wrote a book about being an unknowing third party in a case of emotional infidelity; (see this article, Emotional infidelity and the culpability of sin, and this video; Elisabeth and the other man book discussion, and writing as therapy)
But, while the woman in that book kept her marriage a secret from me, the Church, the bride of Christ, will never be unfaithful to her husband.
Why? Because Christ made an explicit promise to Peter that says as much,
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my churchl and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. (Matthew 16:18).
And Peter himself proves his authority, because of, well, food; The Council of Jerusalem, authority, and food Part I, The Council of Jerusalem, authority, and food Part II.
Y'all, sometimes, I come across people online who claim the Church has fallen into heresy...these people are Catholics, saying that!
They have more faith in their preferred news source, than they have in God!
If I would have encountered those people when I became Catholic, I would have never become Catholic.
Y'all, someone can be intellectually convinced that the Catholic Church is the Church that Christ founded, but then they think the Church fell into heresy, and then what?
They won't become Catholic and they might just stop being Christian altogether!
Y'all ain't helping!
