To the Ends of the Earth: Character – Week 6, Day 5 - The Seed and the Plant Represent the Fullness of Salvation
Here is a new contemporary Christmas hymn, shouting the brilliance of heaven bursting upon the earthly stage, a celebration of the birth of Jesus in a song of praise!
From the album, “We Have Seen the Dawning Light,” a collection of 10 soulful contemporary Christian Christmas melodies. These songs are Incarnational poetry, giving praise to the Savior who has loved us to the full and saved us from our sins!
O Infant Savior, Come in Peace
O Savior come, be swift to save,
Redeem our lives from deepest grave.
The night is long, the darkness falls,
O rend our hearts as Spirit calls.
O woman’s seed to crush the foe,
Your grace and love on man bestow.
O second Adam walk the way,
Restore our sacred Sabbath day.
Glory to God in the highest,
Peace to all men of good will.
There in the manger,
A pure holy stranger,
Resting and silent and still.
O infant Savior come in peace, to rest upon the straw,
Our God in human flesh contained, to fill our hearts with awe.
The gentle, holy child,
The baby meek and mild,
Pour out your gentle love, our sinful spirits now to draw.
O Son of Man descend to earth, to walk the way of hope,
With love so gently powerful, reveal salvation’s scope.
Restore us in your grace,
Let us behold your face,
And lead your people through the fire to Zion’s holy slope.
Come bring your light to crush our foes,
And with your words our song compose.
With mighty voice come calm the sea,
And heal the sick with your decree.
Our shepherd king with staff and rod,
Who leads us to the fold of God.
To pastures green and waters still,
Your weary flock come guide and fill.
Glory to God in the highest,
Peace to all men of good will.
There in the manger,
Our pure holy stranger,
Resting and silent and still.
The holy child, no other, who brings his love to earth,
So wholly mild, our brother, who saves us by his birth.
On night so cold, in power, our God now dwells with man,
With might so bold, the hour, of this the perfect plan.
In humble stall he finds his rest,
The Savior God at mother’s breast.
Our great Messiah, here to save,
Will one day rise from darkest grave.
Glory to God in the highest,
Peace to all men of good will.
There in the manger,
Our pure holy stranger,
Resting and silent and still.
