A reflection and prayer to be present for Christ.
As Christmas dawn approaches, I sit in the eye of my hurricane.
I look towards tomorrow and realize that it's become nothing more than another day of the year.
My reverence and gratefulness are dwindling as Christ's time comes near.
If you find yourself in a space like mine or if you would simply like to join me in prayer, I would be really grateful for your company tonight.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
My Lord and my God, Jesus Christ,
You came to this earth about two thousand years ago as a baby in your mother's womb.
You came for sinners like me and lowered yourself to be like us.
You became human to save us. To love us and to understand us.
Thank you.
For remembering the forgotten, thank you Lord.
For comforting the lonely, thank you Lord.
For welcoming the imperfect and sinful, thank you Lord.
For acknowledging the poor, thank you Lord.
For raising the humble, thank you Lord.
For honoring the virtuous, thank you Lord.
For guiding the lost, thank you Lord.
For loving us amidst it all, thank you Lord.
You revealed yourself to those who earnestly sought after you, thank you Lord.
You could've come in a blazing chariot of fire, yet you chose the Blessed mother's womb.
You could have come in great power and majesty, yet you chose to be born in a manger.
You could've called for the great kings and priests, yet you chose the shepherds and the animals.
Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you for loving us. For loving me.
As Christmas approaches, please come into our hearts. Rest in us as you rested in the arms of Mary and Joseph.
Help us to seek you and hold you in our arms, my beloved Christ.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and will be forever,
Amen.
