To the Ends of the Earth: Witness – Week 7, Day 5 – Living Water Becomes a Gift We Can Give to Others
Here is a new contemporary hymn celebrating the One who came as a baby to bring the dawn of our salvation.
From the album, “Our Holy Infant King,” a collection of 10 original contemporary Christian Christmas songs, celebrating the wonder and joy of the Incarnation and the power of the Son of God who took on flesh to save us from our sins!
My Jesus Rests This Holy Hour
Quiet evening, on the road,
Weary, restless, heavy load.
Full with child, the holy One,
To be born, God’s only Son.
Holy promise to unfold,
Saving story is now told.
Led to lowly shepherd’s keep,
Child to lay among the sheep.
I am chosen, overshadowed, full of grace,
Now to witness God’s great favor to our race.
Time approaching, breathless moment, child arrives,
Here to bring salvation to our broken lives.
Child is born, the Son of God, in flesh now dwelling,
Holy infant, heaven’s wonder, fear dispelling.
Savior King and yet a baby in the manger,
To this broken world of sin a holy stranger.
Who am I that God should bless me with this favor,
Precious moment with this baby, mine to savor.
Soon the world will know the glory of his power,
But for now, my Jesus rests this holy hour.
Resting still upon the straw,
How my heart is filled with awe.
In the distance men draw nigh,
Led by angels in the sky.
Shepherds enter and bow low,
With their witness now they know.
That this child will be their King,
One for whom the angels sing.
Shepherd true before these lowly Shepherds slumbers,
To the ones the least among Great Judah’s numbers.
Angels chorus, servants praising, child awakes,
He the One now born as holy morning breaks.
Born in poverty, in meekness, and surrender,
Innocent and humble, so sublime and tender.
Such a Savior, who would leave behind his glory,
So that he could now complete salvation’s story.
Holding now my Maker and my child in wonder,
Mother’s heart will one day soon be torn asunder.
Yet in joy I cradle him with such affection,
In a bond as true as any felt connection.
Dawn now breaks, the sun will rise,
As the infant Jesus cries.
How my heart now overflows,
As the light around me glows.
Holy hour, blessed day,
Holding now the truth, the way.
He the life, who lives for man,
Now fulfilling Father’s plan.
Blessed baby, who now greets the day with sighing,
One day soon, to save the broken world in dying.
He my child, my Messiah, and my Lord,
Now uniting all our race in one accord.
