Hope is beautiful, but Peace is Sacred.
I have called You many things
depending on the day I was having.
When I was afraid,
You were Light of the World,
finding me before I found courage.
When I was empty,
You were Bread of Life,
steady, sufficient, enough.
When I was lost in questions,
You answered as I Am,
not explaining Yourself,
just staying.
I have known You as Shepherd
when I wandered,
and as Lamb of God
when grace cost more than words.
You were Prince of Peace
when my hands wouldn’t stop shaking,
and Lord of Lords
when I needed to remember
that nothing else was in charge.
You were Emmanuel—
God with us—
when being with was all I could manage.
Alpha when my faith began.
Omega when I thought it ended.
I realize now
the names didn’t change—
I did.
You met me where I was,
called Yourself what I needed,
and never lost Your power
by coming close.
By every name,
You are still God.
And I am still learning
how to say Amen with my life.
