Most Holy Father,
With filial devotion we address this appeal to Your Holiness, giving humble voice to the dismay and consternation felt by a significant portion of the holy People of God after the publication, on 4 November 2025, of the mariological Note Mater Populi Fidelis, issued by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.
As children of the Church, our consciences are profoundly troubled as we read the statements contained in this Note regarding certain Marian titles that refer to the cooperation of Mary Most Holy in the work of our salvation. How can we not be afflicted to see this new mariological position set itself in clear opposition to the teaching handed down until now—teaching which has always recognized in the Virgin Mary a unique, real, and maternal role in the economy of Redemption?
The issue is not, as the Note might seem to suggest, merely one of replacing or updating certain titles judged ambiguous or inopportune, but rather of cutting away—together with the titles “Co-redemptrix” and “Mediatrix of all Graces”—the very doctrine these titles embody. Indeed, the Catholic truth concerning Mary’s active cooperation in the saving work of her Son appears to be reduced, if not denied outright, as though such cooperation could stand in contradiction to the sole mediation of Christ, rather than being rooted in it and wholly dependent upon it.
We therefore ask ourselves whether we must conclude that the Saints, the Doctors of the Church—including St. John Henry Newman, whom Your Holiness proclaimed a Doctor of the Church—and the numerous Popes who taught this doctrine, were all mistaken. Even Your own homily of 9 June 2025, delivered for the Jubilee of the Holy See, in which You described the Virgin as the “new Eve,” associated with the redeeming death of her divine Son, now seems cast into shadow.
The intent of the Note, unfortunately, appears clear: for unspecified ecumenical reasons, it seeks to minimize the great mariology developed by the Church Fathers, the great theologians, and the Magisterium—a mariology substantially reflected as well in chapter VIII of Lumen gentium. Mary is presented in Mater Populi Fidelis as a simple disciple of Jesus, whose cooperation is merely receptive and subordinate to that of the Church, without a true acknowledgment of what the Most Holy Virgin has done for us in bringing us to new life in the supernatural order.
Either Mary is our Mother or she is not. And if she is, she cannot exercise only a passive role in relation to the primacy and omnipotence of Christ’s saving action. Mary is associated with Christ just as Eve was with Adam. Eve, with Adam, was the cause of our ruin. Mary, in Christ and with Christ, was the cause of our salvation (St Irenaeus of Lyons).
If the Note were justified, what then would become of the Miraculous Medal, the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the innumerable ex-votos that adorn our Marian shrines, the Holy Rosary, and all the Marian devotions that presuppose—and embody—the true and maternal mediation of Mary?
Holy Father, we desire to remain faithful to the patrimony of Catholic doctrine and to the perennial faith of the Church. For this reason, with filial trust, we beg Your Holiness to hear our sorrow and to intervene in whatever manner You deem most fitting, so that the honor, truth, and special veneration owed to the Most Blessed Virgin Mary—Mother of God and our Mother—may be restored.
Confident in Your pastoral solicitude, we commend Your Holiness to the protection of our Most Holy Mother, with sentiments of filial obedience.
It is also recommended that you also send the Petition to the Holy Father by letter (dated and with a legible signature) to the following address:

Before, it was arguied that no dogma was needed because there was no opposition to the titles of Coredemptrix, Mediatrix, Advocatrix.
Now, more than ever, we need a fifth Marian dogma that will settle the correct definitions of such titles on Virgin Mary, and therefore it will encourage their proper use, just as the previous four dogmas dissipated the clouds of doubts about the correct meaning of:
- Mother of God
- Perpetual Virginity (virgin before, during, and after childbirth)
- Immaculate Conception (conceived without original sin)
- Assumption
To deny Mary's unique role in co-redemption is to deny the New Eve: Jesus, the New Adam, generated the Church through the New Eve at the foot of the Cross, where Mary birthed the Church in pain by participating in Christ sacrifice but in white martyrdom.
In this Economy of Salvation, no Coredemptrix, no redemption, just as there's no proper descent without the cooperation of a wife. The doctrine of coredemption is directly tied to the mystery (mysterium = sacrament) of marriage referred by St. Paul (Ephesians 5:21-33).
Note: of course, it's about mystical marriage, which has nothing to do with sex. Mary is the Mother of God, not the wife of Jesus, and spouse of the Holy Spirit, yet she participated as New Eve, suffering as one Eucharistic flesh, because she is THE Eucharistic woman.
To deny that Virgin Mary is mediator of all graces, is a heresy. Of course, she was pre-emptively redeemed by preventing her fall under Adam, through the New Adam. Yet, all graces pass through Her, even the graces saving the angels and the saints before her, because the supernatural transcends the space-time limitations.
Otherwise, she wouldn't be rightfully called "Mother of the Divine Redeemer", "Mother of Divine Grace", "Mother of the Church", "Queen of all Creation" "Queen of the universe", "Queen of Heaven", etc. With God's grace, she rightfully earned and deserved those titles!
"Hence the words of one of our predecessors, Alexander VII, who authoritatively and decisively declared the mind of the Church: 'Concerning the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, ancient indeed is that devotion of the faithful based on the belief that her soul, in the first instant of its creation and in the first instant of the soul’s infusion into the body, was, by a special grace and privilege of God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, her Son and the Redeemer of the human race, preserved free from all stain of original sin. And in this sense have the faithful ever solemnized and celebrated the Feast of the Conception.' (Apost. Const. Sollicitudo Omnium Ecclesiarum, December 8, 1661) ... “I will put enmities between you and the woman, between your seed and her seed" (Gn 3:15)

"14. We are then, it will be seen, very far from attributing to the Mother of God a productive power of grace - a power which belongs to God alone. Yet, since Mary carries it over all in holiness and union with Jesus Christ, and has been associated by Jesus Christ in the work of redemption, she merits for us de congruo, in the language of theologians, what Jesus Christ merits for us de condigno, and she is the supreme Minister of the distribution of graces."

"14. Nor can it be asserted that the Redemption by Christ was on this account lessened, as if it did not extend to the whole race of Adam: and therefore something taken away from the office and dignity of the Divine Redeemer. For if we carefully and thoroughly consider the matter, we easily perceive that Christ the Lord in a certain most perfect manner really redeemed His mother, since it was by virtue of His merits that she was preserved by God immune from all stain of original sin. Wherefore, the infinite dignity of Jesus Christ and His office of universal redemption is not diminished nor lowered by this tenet of doctrine, rather it is greatly increased."
It's very important to know that the ghost writer of the infamous note, Maurizio Gronchi, wasn't even a mariologist, and that several reputable Mariological Institutes (Marianum, PAMI) refused to participate under the script given to them. There's even the possibility that the Pope didn't even slow-read the note, missed or was duped by changing a few critical words. Otherwise, the Pope signed a heresy!
Note: Papal infabillity only applies to proclamations ex cathedra, not the regular ministry as proven by this Mater Populi Fidelis, and the errors of Pope Francis, like decarbonization, Traditionis custodes, Fiducia Supplicans, etc.

On one hand, heretics deny the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharistic crumbs with the false argument that they are small, while on the other hand, they correctly believe in a consecrated host with just one invisible molecule of gluten, yet they don’t care about the error of fake-consecration of zero-gluten hosts:
