Our penance' sole purpose should painfully be...
To stop layering sins on our Jesus so grieved.
Unless we are Christ-centered, our souls are deceived.
Loving Him first, is how true growth's achieved.
If being self-centered is how we remain,
demanding things 'n thrones for our family to reign.
His love abounds, yes, but His point is made plain,
an unearned mansion, we will never attain.
With every sin, we crucify Jesus again and again.
If 1st in our heart, we think of His pain.
Only His will is how happiness is gained.
Please let us not hurt Him today, Amen?
Prayers are best worded to accept His will, His grace,
to stop with "I want" and look in His Face.
Eye to eye, we see sorrow and may rethink vice.
He's not self-centered...
...He thinks only of us.
