Understanding Baptism: Symbols, Requirements, Rites, and Responsibilities.
A long, long time ago, before anything was made, God decided to create people. He didn’t need to ask anyone because no one else was there! God made the first people, Adam and Eve, because He loved them. He made them very special — they had hearts to love, minds to think, and the freedom to make choices.
God placed Adam and Eve in a beautiful garden called the Garden of Eden. He gave them one simple rule:
"Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." (Genesis 2:16–17)
God gave this rule to test if they would obey Him.
But one day, the devil came and told Eve a lie. She believed him and ate the fruit from the tree God told them not to eat. Then Adam ate it too. This was the very first sin, and it's called Original Sin. (Genesis 3:1–6)
Because of their disobedience, sin and suffering entered the world. God had to send them out of the garden. (Romans 5:12) Sin broke the friendship between God and people. But God still loved them so much. He didn’t leave them. He made a promise that one day, someone very special would come to crush the devil and save us. (Genesis 3:15) This was the first good news — that God would save us. We call this The Protoevangelium.
Later, God sent His Son, Jesus, to do exactly that.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not die, but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
Jesus came to earth, lived a holy life, and then gave up His life to take away our sins. (John 1:29)
Even though we were sinners, He still died for us. (Romans 5:8)
Now, because of Jesus, we can be close to God again. He fixed what sin broke. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
So, what does this mean for us?
It means that even though Adam and Eve disobeyed God, He still loved them and He loves you too! He sent Jesus to save us and bring us back to Him. Let’s try to obey God, say sorry when we do wrong, and love Him every day.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for loving me even when I make mistakes. Help me to always follow You and to do what is right. Amen.
Memory Verse:
