That feeling of disappointment
Ever heard of this great man? He's a Saint of our times, being executed for his faith in 1927. He was a 20th century Mexican Jesuit priest who died for his faith publicly by a firing squad. He was falsely accused of a bombing and attempted assassination of a government official. As he faced the firing squad, he refused to be blindfolded, held out his arms in the shape of a cross, forgiving his persecutors and saying "Viva Cristo Rey", "Long live Christ the King". How appropriate to honor God at this time of the nearing remembrance of the feast day of "Christ the King".
Saint Miguel Pro remained in Mexico, during Christian persecution. And served a Church forced to go underground because of this persecution. He ministered the Sacraments to small groups of Catholics. He and his brother Roberto were arrested on false charges of attempting to assassinate Mexico's president. Roberto was spared, but Miguel was sentenced to face the firing squad on November 23rd, 1927. His funeral becoming a public demonstration of faith and he was beatified in 1988 by Pope John Paul II.
Let us ask blessed Miguel Pro to aid us in our fears and trials facing our Faith. Asking for courage when our Faith in God is challenged and always remain steadfast in our beliefs that dying for God, no matter what, is our destiny and our privilege.
Blessed Miguel Pro, pray for us and the Church!
