OLD TESTAMENT
Genesis. God creates everything but humanity falls through Original Sin. God begins His redemptive plan through Abraham’s family.
Exodus. God delivers Israel from Egyptian slavery and gives Moses the 10 Commandments on Mt Sinai.
Leviticus. God gives Israel specifics on worship, atonement and holiness so He can dwell among them.
Numbers. Israel wanders the desert for 40 years due to unbelief, while God remains faithful.
Deuteronomy. Moses repeats God’s Law and urges the next generation to love and obey Him.
Joshua. Israel conquers and settles the promised land by obeying and trusting in God’s power.
Judges. Israel falls into a cycle of sin, judgement and deliverance through their flawed leaders.
Ruth. A Moabite woman’s loyalty allows her to become the great-grandmother of King David.
1 Samuel. God empowers the prophet, Saul and David demonstrating how He values obedience over appearance.
2 Samuel. David’s rise and fall reveal God’s justice and mercy.
1 Kings. Solomon builds the Temple, while idolatry fractures the kingdom.
2 Kings. Both Israel and Judah are conquered due to idolatry and sin.
1Chronicles. David’s reign is critiqued, emphasizing worship and God’s promises.
2 Chronicles. Faithfulness or rebellion affects the nations based on the behavior of Judah’s Kings.
Ezra. The exiled open their hearts to God's grace. Through Him, they return and rebuild the Temple.
Nehemiah seeks to revive the people's faithfulness, and the walls of Jerusalem’s walls are rebuilt
Tobit. The story of the faith and sacrifice of Tobit, a Naphtali tribesman.
Judith. Through God's grace, she uses her beauty and cunning to save her people from destruction by defeating the Assyrian general Holofernes.
Ester. God uses a brave, humble queen to protect His people.
1 Maccabees. The consequences of ambition on those who impose false rules.
2 Maccabees. Sacrifices are made during a tumultuous revolt. God intervenes and restores His Temple.
Job. A righteous man is victimized by satan, yet finds hope in God implicitly despite others' despair.
Psalms. An anthology of emotional songs and prayers that seek understanding from a faithful God.
Proverbs. Practical wisdom for our earthly journey towards our Heavenly home.
Ecclesiastes. Without God, we are nothing. With God, we need nothing.
Song of Songs. A rich celebration of gifting self in sacred intimacy and commitment to another while exploring an appreciation for the individual soul.
Wisdom explores suffering and the sovereignty of God in the midst of trials.
Sirach. A collection of ethical teachings aimed at promoting righteousness in daily life.
Isaiah. God judges sin while promising a suffering Savior who will reign in glory.
Jeremiah. A weeping warning of judgement with hope for a new covenant.
Lamentations. A dramatic dirge over Jerusalem's destruction, calling souls back to God.
Baruch. A collection of wisdom, prayers, and prophecies that express both the sorrow and hope of the exiled.
Ezekiel. God's glory is revealed; as sin is judged leading to restoration and a new heart.
Daniel. While living in exile, visions prophesize God’s goals for empires and eternity.
Hosea. God’s perfect love pursues the unfaithful like a straying husband or wife.
Joel. A locust plague softens hearts towards repentance bringing hope for the Lord's coming.
Amos. God condemns social hypocrisy and wasteful worship.
Obadiah. God humbles the prideful Edom for betraying Israel.
Jonah. A rebellious prophet explores the depth of God’s mercy for Israel’s enemies.
Micah. God calls His people to walk humbly with Him showing justice, love and mercy.
Nahum. God promises to judge Nineveh and comfort His people.
Habakkuk. A prophet wrestles with evil and learns to trust God’s justice.
Zephaniah. The coming day of the Lord brings judgment, but also restoration.
Haggai. God calls His people to prioritize rebuilding His Temple over personal comfort.
Zechariah. Visions imply a future Messiah with the ultimate restoration of God’s kingdom.
Malachi. God rebukes apathy and hints the coming of Elijah and the Lord.
THE NEW TESTAMENT
Matthew. Jesus is the promised Messiah, King of the Jews and fulfillment of prophecy.
Mark. A fast-paced account shows Jesus as the powerful, suffering Son of God.
Luke. The compassionate Jesus reaches out to the broken outsiders.
John. Jesus is the eternal Word made flesh, who reveals the Father the giver of eternal life.
Acts. The Holy Spirit empowers the apostles' adventures to the ends of the earth as they spread the Good News.
Romans. God’s righteousness offers salvation to all who believe.
1 Corinthians. St Paul addresses division, immorality and spiritual gifts with Gospel clarity.
2 Corinthians. St. Paul defends his ministry and encourages strength through weakness.
Galatians. St Paul emphasizes the authority of Christ and the importance of the true Gospel.
Ephesians. God has unified a new humanity through Christ's new covenant.
Philippians. Christ's joy can thrive, despite suffering and uncertainty.
Colossians. Christ is supreme over all creation and sufficient for every soul.
1 Thessalonians. In anticipation of Christ’s return, we are to lead holy lives.
2 Thessalonians. St Paul clarifies end time confusion and urges perseverance.
1 Timothy. St Paul leaves instructions for an orderly church and holy leadership.
2 Timothy. In St Paul’s final letter, he urges faithfulness to the Gospel until the end.
Titus shares sound doctrine to live the Truth with integrity.
Philemon. A personal appeal is made to show Gospel-level grace and forgiveness.
Hebrews. Jesus is the divine high Priest who fulfills the old covenant.
James. True faith is demonstrated by actions and moral living.
1 Peter. Suffering Christians are called to holiness and hope.
2 Peter. Stay alert against false prophets and grow in grace.
1 John. True believers walk in light, love and truth.
2 John. Love the truth and reject deceivers.
3 John. Support faithful gospel workers and reject arrogance.
Jude. Contend for the faith against corrupt influencers.
Revelation. Jesus reigns as the victorious Lamb and will return to make all things new.
