We Don’t Belong
Housecleaning
Have you done your housecleaning
Not the one that’s done once a year in spring
The one I am referring to is for everyday
The one I’m talking about is your heart and how you pray
You need more than a yearly cleanse
But it’s hard to remove a year’s worth of grime and grease
Especially in a ten minute spritz
A yearly confession has little grits
Scrub daily
What you’ll discover will keep you happy
But also readies you for
When our Lord suddenly shows up at your door
Yes you’ve died
Yes people cried
But none worse than the fool
Who thought that yearly confession was so cool
You’ll head to Reconciliation in a hurry
If you knew your days would end swiftly
Then clean your house
Make it hospitable to you and God not a louse
Amen
