Follow the Faith

I can remember my sixth-grade classroom back in the seventies learning the Golden Rule. I can remember talking about the Bible and celebrating Jesus’ birth in the classroom. We started each day with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer. There were no complaints, no protests, no one felt there was anything wrong with these practices. It was natural and normal. What happened?
How sad that a country with a majority of Christian believers has allowed a minority of unbelievers to sweep our God under a rug. The devil was hard at work the last fifty years establishing new definitions for “Separation of Church and State” and “Religious freedom”. It took time, but eventually God was removed from our children’s classrooms, government offices and places of business. The mere mention of anything Christian in a public environment has become taboo.
Just what has been removed from our society? God is love; therefore, Love has been removed. Children are taught to rely on themselves; to reach for whatever makes them happy. Happiness is equated with self-satisfaction instead of self-sacrifice. A nation of self-gratifying individuals has no room for love.
It is no surprise that this nation has two of the most hated individuals now running for its highest office. Any candidate that exemplified love and Christian values was weeded out. These candidates were considered weak and ineffective. We are left with mudslingers, scandals, arrogance, and dishonesty.
We deserve it.
For fifty years, the people of this nation have sat back and let the devil whittle away our religious rights granted under the constitution. We have allowed censorship, corruption and worst of all, the murder of our most innocent. The people of this nation have allowed “hate” to reign and have rejected the God of Life and Love.
I am not a Democrat, nor am I a Republican. I registered “No Party” because my first loyalty is to the Lord. I am not a fan of either party’s candidate. I will, however, vote. I feel it is my duty as a citizen and it is my duty to my God and Creator. I will fight for my country and my religious beliefs.
For me, this election is not a choice between the two candidates, but about choosing to regain freedoms. I want to see this nation’s Christians be able to live their faith. I want my grandchildren to be able to pray at school. I want to tell my customers “Merry Christmas.” I want my faith and beliefs respected. I want to put Love back into our society.
I pray that it is not too late.
