MONEY, The Root Of All Evil
Was Mary Magdalene really an Adulterer?
Eileen Renders
John 8:3-11 A woman caught in adultery is brought before Jesus. The religious leaders demand that she be stoned, citing the law of Moses. Jesus bends down and writes in the dust, then tells the accusers, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” The accusers, beginning with the elders, depart one by one. Jesus then tells the woman, “Neither do I condemn you. Go now, and do not sin again”.
Note: There has been some confusion in Bible verses, and people believe Mary Magdalene was the sinful adulteress, which is an incorrect assumption. Although the tradition of Mary Magdalene being a penitent prostitute has strong ecclesiastical support, it has no explicit support in the Bible.
Luke 8:2-3 Mentions Mary Magdalene as one of the women who had been healed by Jesus and was ministering to him, and from whom “seven demons had gone out.” There is no mention in Scripture of her being accused of adultery or facing stoning.
Have our morals changed so drastically from a time when a person could be stoned to death for adultery to a time such as today, when a convicted felon can run our Country, and receives immunity again and again, and is supported by the White House? I am not clear about how God would decide to punish convicted felons who cheat on paying taxes by lying about Real Estate value, are not upfront regarding their health, and are suspected of being a pedophile, with many other charges, continues to rule our country, and does so in the style of a dictator.
Power is often used as a weapon to control others while ensuring that they, the ones with power, receive adulation, money, and all that pleases them. God, who has all power and created us, however, gives love and mercy, and sincerely loves each one of us. Our Constitution was founded on equality and fairness to all, and equal opportunity. We must all step up and show our concern, take advantage of our right to vote, and be a person for all people.
