Prayer of Thanks for the Christian Community

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.- Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Prayer of Thanks for the Christian Community

Lord,

I thank you for the opportunity

to once again

be welcomed into your presence

surrounded by my brothers and sisters

of this Christian community

These,

Your servants,

have gathered together to worship You

to pray for peace,

to pray for salvation,

to pray for those souls who have gone before us

who now stand with the saints in heaven

amid your shining glory

Your word gives us the strength

to live in this world

and allows us to breathe with joy

as we discover anew each day

the beauty of your creation

Your instruction

reminds us of the life we must live

imitating You

and proclaiming your glory

for all to see

let us always

gather together

in praise,

in mercy,

in love,

in thanks

for all You have bestowed upon this world.
