Elections Have Consequences... Church Militant Must Take Stand in 2024 Elections
Today, an iconic conservative personality was ready to have a hard conversation with attendees on issues facing America at Utah Valley University, like he has done many times before. It was to kick off a 14-school campus tour.
Tragically, what turned into a routine debate and dialogue with those who are misinformed by the issue turned violent as Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point, was fatally shot by a communist in the name of political violence. Kirk would succumb to the wound as he would leave behind his wife, Erika, and two young children who would grow up without a father.
Kirk, 32, founded a grassroots organization known as Turning Point, which goes on the offense, advocating for conservative politics at high schools, colleges, and universities. Kirk was a husband to Erika and a father to
Many of his videos of him debating groups of students have since gone viral and no doubt turned the wheels of brainwashed students to think a little more as he articulated the conservative views attacking the ideas every student presented. Then, there were times that these same agitators would turn to violence. In fact, Kirk once recalled, “When discourse ends, violence begins.” What is happening on campuses and everywhere conservative and religious believers have a target on their back is the reason persecutions are on the rise.
Bishop Barron was saddened by the news of the talented debater. He first met him in Phoenix four years ago and was impressed by his intelligence and charm.
“He was a man of great intelligence, considerable charm, and real goodness of heart.” Bishop Barron posted on Facebook. “He was indeed a great debater and also one of the best advocates in our country for civil discourse, but he was, first and last, a passionate Christian.”
Bishop Barron recalled Kirk’s deep interest in theology. Indeed, he believes that America can look to the Blessed Mother if it wants to counter America’s problems. Further, he has been seen attending Mass in Phoenix.
Charlie Kirk died a martyr, as his death will be known as a political assassination by a communist sympathizer, radicalized by hatred. Yet, he was no doubt God’s faithful servant as he fought the good fight.
Catholics can take one thing away about Kirk that is applicable in evangelization. The issues that are facing America must be discussed, even if it seems uncomfortable. For Kirk, he was an advocate for the unborn for much of his life.
For the soul of Charlie Kirk, we pray:
Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
