A diminishing era of Sacramental Efficacy
Are we Pleasing God? Short on Efforts!
Begin with The Sanctity of Life; The Unborn
Now then, speak thus to my servant David, “The Lord of hosts has this to say, It was I who took you from the pasture and from the care of the flock to be commander of my people Israel, I have been with you wherever you went, and I have destroyed all your enemies before you. And I will make you famous like the great ones of the earth.” (2 Sam 7: 8 - 9).
It is you, Lord of hosts, God of Israel, who said in a revelation to your servant, “I will build a house for you.” Therefore your servant now finds the courage to make this prayer to you. And now, Lord God, you are God and your words are truth; you have made this generous promise to your servant. Do, then, bless the house of your servant that it may be before you forever; for you, Lord God, have promised, and by your blessing the house of your servant shall be blessed forever.” (2 Sam 7: 27 - 29).
The womb of a pregnant mother is in fact a home for an unborn baby and has the blessings of God, forever.
Words that should remind us that when any of us hears and builds a trust on the Lord’s promises he will see us through the bad times and the good times. God does not expect a complete do-over in all that we do indicating our allegiance to his grace and trust. But he does expect our thankfulness and effort to give him praise by the very manner in which we show our appreciation by forgiveness to those who hurt us and most especially how we treat others, including our most precious progeny; our unborn children.
Can anyone remember reading about how the Israelites were taken in by the god called Moloch who was a vestige for human sacrifice of babies; especially in a burning sacrifice of these children; innocent and discarded as their parents’ contribution. Of course this happened centuries ago, yet the remnant of the same sacrifice exists today in abortion clinics. How we might ask can a loving mother look for reasons to submit their own unborn child to the knife, or chemicals to destroy a viable and living human baby still alive in their only protective fortress the womb to certain mutilation that they are able to feel as their little innocent life comes to an end.
Does anyone believe that God was pleased centuries ago with the human sacrifice before an idol called Moloch. Has the certain displeasure by God made us any more aware that the millions of human children being on a death watch places us in a death arena awaiting for the final stroke of a physician’s scalpel to sever a baby’s throat or skull?
This is where the words, “Short on Efforts!” becomes a sword to the heart of Mary, the Mother of God as described by Simeon in the temple at the Presentation of Jesus. “And you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (Lk 2: 35).
How much more will we be confronted with before the concern for the unborn, the disabled, and the children of God who are mentally hurting because of Down’s Syndrome become a compassionate concern for those who are as much human and viable citizens as we are. Do we want to please God? Start with the love of humanity that God created you and I with.
