Have the sins of some drawn you away from the Sacraments?
Crying out to the mountains; “Fall on us.”
The kings of the earth, the nobles, the military officers, the rich, the powerful, and every slave hid themselves in caves and among the mountains and the rocks. They cried out to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.” (Rv 6: 15 - 16).
Over 800 years before the birth of Jesus and the eventual final judgment on the earth there was another judgment called “the Lord’s Day of Judgment on Pride.” From Isaiah we read, “People will go into caves in the rocks and into holes in the earth, at the terror of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty, as he rises to overawe the earth. On that day people shall throw to moles and bats their idols of silver and their idols of gold which they made for themselves to worship. And they shall go into caverns in the rocks and into crevices in the cliffs, at the terror of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty, as he rises to overawe the earth.” (Is 2: 19 -21).
We have all heard the edict, “Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.” Accurately stated by George Santayana. What we just read from Isaiah we find mentioned in the Book of Revelation. It isn’t just a play on words that gets our attention, it is a fact that so much found through the prophets of the bible seem to be happening in our 21st century as warnings to events that are closer to all of us than we can imagine.
As any of us look at what politics promises in the near future should at least touch the fear of our children’s outlook on peace that we may never see. Zohran Mamdani, an avowed Communist running for mayor of New York City will help establish a precedent across this nation of America if he is elected. Some have said it won’t happen. If enough citizens adhere to the idea of socialism without understanding the very essence of its eventual contribution, then too many with enough power in their belief will become the future of China, Russia, and other Marxist ideals.
Hiding from the rocks and a wrong choice of government will become the very judgment on what Christianity looks for and will find just retribution from enemies of God. Is all this more hyperbole that many want to believe will not occur? We can bank on this; If enough people choose to follow the ways of evil that are found in supporting the theory that God, if any still believe in him, no longer cares about his creation and the people he has placed here to extend his kingdom on earth. That will be enough to displease the Lord and we who are left shall reap a world filled with mistrust and acceptance of all that is the devil’s promotion of a trip into hell.
How many will accept that God created them to live with him in eternity and cling to what his Son, Jesus Christ, became Incarnate to eliminate the evil of sin and become the sacrifice to please God for the eradication of the evil that hangs over our choice to live with God or to enter hell because we do not want the love that only God can give.
