The Christmas Prayer

It always amazes me to see how some people are in such a hurry to leave Mass! They can't wait to flip up the kneeler and roll out. I'd like to ask them sometime, what's your hurry?
You've just spent a good part of an hour at Mass, singing, listening to the readings, participating in the liturgy, receiving the body and blood of Jesus Christ, and concluding the Mass by singing some more. Is a couple of minutes more really going to make that big a difference to you? Again, I ask, what's your hurry?
In your haste, you've missed out on some very special things that follow Mass. Like taking the opportunity to say hello to some of your fellow parishioners; or say hello to your parish priest, who has so thoughtfully given of himself to enlighten your mind and heart with the good news of the gospel through Jesus’ words and his own. Also, you've overlooked the chance to thank the altar servers and tell them what a fine job they did on the altar that day; and if you'd waited just a few moments more, you might have said a short prayer before one of the statues or lit a candle for a special intention that day.
They're really isn't anything that can't wait a few minutes more, don't you agree?
So I ask you, What's Your Hurry?
