Climbing The Ladder To Success, A Reflection
Sincerity and Consistency, our gift to God
Eileen Renders
Recalling my desire to deepen and strengthen my relationship with Jesus, required that I travel inward and examine what I could do to show Him that I wanted to become pleasing in His eyes. How do we show anyone, our family and children, how much we love them? Of course, we spend time with them, hear about their feelings and needs, and care for them.
The first thing that came to mind in thinking of how to love Jesus, and to live my life in a way that would please Him, was to frequent the sacraments, to refrain from sin. How could God remain close to us when we are not in the state of grace?
With God as my focus, I did not sleep each night without examining my conscience. Had I told a lie today, had I failed to do something I should have done? Truly, I was aware of how God watches over us and our families each day, and I often pondered what I had to give Him. What does God want from us? Realizing one of the greatest gifts He gave to each one of us, our free will, and how often we misuse that gift in making poor choices, I decided that I knew I could give to Him.
In my nighttime prayers, and every Sunday before receiving Holy Communion, I thanked Him for His many blessings and graces bestowed upon myself and my family, I offered Him to take the most precious gift back that He had given to me, my free will. I submitted to my mind, heart, and soul. Hoping God would accept my offering. I repeated this offer to Him for months and years. My prayer became an offer that became more frequent and more consistent, and then I realized that God had accepted my offering as I was submissive to His will.
How can we know that He has accepted our will? By remaining in the state of grace, frequenting the sacraments, and making our submission to His will frequently with deep sincerity, we will at some point begin to feel Him working in our lives. In other words, we will say, do, and feel His presence within us as we live in a manner greater than who we once were. We become more loving, giving, and content with who we are becoming. The graces of wisdom, joy, and understanding come to us more readily, and knowing that God has accepted our submission to Him is all we need to feel content in our lives. Our fear is replaced by trust.
We know that our soul has been lifted by our creator, who loves us, and we believe we are in the arms of salvation by our loving Savior.
Moreover, we desire to share with all how God wants them to become submissive to Him. For only in that way can He give to us all He desires to give us with love, the many graces and blessings that will bring heaven closer. Our love continues to grow for Him, and we want to evangelize, to help bring one lost soul back into the fold. He is the Good Shepherd and will guide us back home to safety.
