God's Shepherd's Are Always There For Us

Do you ever find yourself frantically running around from place to place, like a chicken with its head cut off, looking for something that somehow you've managed to lose or misplace again? Do you ever find yourself getting more and more anxious by the minute because you can't find it, and begin to wonder if it's lost forever?
Well! I do, and more often than I care to admit. Usually, in my case, it's the repeatedly exhausting search for my pocket book and keys that are the cause of my dilemma.
Fortunately though, even in my agitated and frustrated state of mind, I find myself stopping and remembering there is one person I can call upon to hear me and answer me, and come to my much needed aid; and I begin to pray to him, as I walk from room to room, looking in crevices and corners, saying,....
“Dear Saint Anthony, come around, something's lost that must be found!”
And then, as if by magic, my ordeal is over, and as I exhale a huge sigh of relief, I say ….. Thank you Saint Anthony, and I grab my purse and keys, and scurry out the door.
Is my story, your story? Is this you too? You're probably nodding your head ‘yes’ and laughing at the very idea that someone else suffers the same everyday frustrations that you do.
Well unfortunately, there are many others in this great wide universe just like us. Isn't it marvelous to know though we can call upon Saint Anthony when we need him? Saint Anthony is just one of the marvelous saints that make our lives better and they are all there for us.
For instance, a little over three years ago, my mother passed away. During the time she was in the hospital, my sister and I ran tirelessly back and forth there, uncertain of her fate. It was a difficult time for us. I prayed!
The following day after her funeral, my son discovered he had cancer. He was diagnosed with it and went through chemotherapy...again I prayed.
But, my struggles didn't end there. It was almost a year after my son was diagnosed with cancer, that I discovered my husband had cancer also and his battle with the dreaded disease began for him. It would be his second time.
Again, I prayed! Fortunately, he recovered and his cancer is in remission today also.
Throughout those years, I knew it was out of our hands, so I turned to another wonderful Saint, Saint Jude. I knew he would help me in my hour of need. Although my mother never recovered, I know Saint Jude helped me through those difficult days when I felt so helpless and feared the worst.
We have many crosses to carry through life, but isn't it comforting to know we can pray for help at our most desperate times of need by turning to the saints?
As one of our Lord’s most blessed people, I know they will take our prayers to our Heavenly Father and intercede our petitions to Him on our behalf.
If you haven't had an opportunity to follow the lives of some of our saints, I encourage you to do so. They're amazing people!
