Easter Joy

Every Sunday we gather for Mass, and every part of the Mass has a meaning behind it. I thought being a life long Catholic that I knew the meaning behind all the parts. But I was wrong. I thought the sign of peace was meant to wish everyone good wishes, and happiness. But I was wrong.
We come to Mass with our imperfections, flaws, and failures. And yes, we receive God’s grace and forgiveness. But what about that anger towards another person? What about a grudge against whoever that we may come to Mass with? What about one of our kids we may have yelled at before Mass? Those people need forgiveness as much as we need it from God. Those people need that forgiveness before going to receive the Body and Blood of Christ as much we do. And don’t we all want to receive Him full of peace and grace? That is why we were given the sign of peace; not to wish others well, but for a chance to be peace, and a chance to come clean before receiving Him.
If you’ve come to Mass with hate, with a grudge, with anger, use that chance you’ve been given. Forgive, give peace, and be all the more prepared to receive Him with a peaceful spirit and clean heart.
