Craving Our Indulgence
1. The Holy Water
Getting to bless 'ourselves' in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit is such a loving gift the Church gives us. If you get a chance to stand near the font at Easter Vigil while the water is being blessed and we renounce evil, do it. It's as special as being there for a Baptism.
Let's not forget to remember those in Purgatory after blessing ourselves, too.
2. The Blessed Rosary Beads
Most of us probably have blessed Rosary Beads in the family somewhere. Isn't their sound wonderfully comforting? Rated E for Everyone.
The traditional prayers might be thought of for prayer warrior types. However, simple prayers are acceptable too. A simple thought for each person in your realm of influence would be so nice and appreciated. You know who they are, those lovely people you’d invite to a wedding. Give the Rosary a run around the block, if you haven't lately.
3. The Sacred Crucifix
When I'm not feeling well, it's so good to have the Crucifix near. Jesus suffered and died for us. I gaze and remember.
4. Blessed Medals
I wear a Blessed Saint Benedict Medal because I'm a secular oblate of St. Benedict and get asked about it frequently. So not only does it bless me, there's an evangelical bonus! Need more friends? Get out a medal you might have and add it to your person. Some carry them in pockets and wallets, or on keychains.
5. Church Calendar
I just love Church calendars! Not only are they beautiful they are so good to use to remind of the Holy Days of Obligation. Especially if we need convincing to not stay home, in that "show me" frame of mind. What better way than getting a blessing from the Church Calendar to take that step forward?
Got a religious craving? Don't forget sacramentals help us. Let's indulge!
