A Savior in Our Midst

When you keep pushing and bending a piece of wood, one of two things are likely to happen: either the wood breaks, or your hand just might slip and the wood springs back and smacks you in the face. The systematic implementation of and insistence upon a comprehensive policy of globalization and nouveau-Socialism on the Western world over the past 70 or so years was bound to create a powder keg. That powder keg went off this past week with the so-called "Brexit" vote in the United Kingdom.
The reaction to this monumental decision illustrated just how ingrained the elements of modernism and secular humanist have become in the fabric of the West. HBO's Bill Maher frequently speaks of conservatives living "in the bubble." But liberals and progressives fail to recognize the fact that they live in a bubble of their own creation. They fail to see the very real fact that many people--myself included--do not embrace the golden calf values propagated by many on the left. They've chosen to remove God from the social equation and have opted instead to erect a false god of humanism. In essence, they worship themselves. The proof of this exists in the overwhelmingly negative coverage the American and European media gave to this event.
Like children throwing a temper tantrum, they lost their collective minds over the fact that the U.K. seemingly tore apart the fabric of their delusional utopian dream of a world without borders, a world where the State reigns supreme. For decades, they've waged war on the Catholic Church in Europe and by and large, they've succeeded. The Church, which was once an inseparable part of the fabric of European society is but a shell of its former self in nearly every European country, save perhaps Poland. Their warped notion of tolerance has led to an influx of Muslim immigrants into England, France, Germany, Belgium and Italy--the very epicenter of Christianity and the birthplace of Western Civilization. Europe has now become a moral wasteland, with support for euthanasia and abortion spreading like wildfire.
Those of us who have openly supported and applauded the Brexit outcome have been labeled xenophobes, racists and imperialists. Politicians such as France's Marie Le Pen and Italy's Matteo Salvini, both Catholics, have seen their popularity soar to enormous heights based on their platforms of embracing and preserving Western values in their respective countries. Yet because they do not share in the starry-eyed, anti-theistic visions of the far Left, they have been branded as bigots. The headline of an article that was widely spread around on social media last week read, "You Talk About the Collapse of Western Civilization As If It Would Be a Bad Thing." How have we gotten to the point where such utter ignorance is passed off as legitimate? The collapse of Western Civilization would be the end of both Civilization and civility and the title of the article is precisely the problem with the world today. It reeks of ignorance and naivete.
It should not be considered a vice to defend and cherish the values and social foundation that centuries of Christians before us have established. Brexit was the natural response to decades of globalization, secularization and Socialism being forced down people's throats and it will likely spread to other Western countries. The political Left need look no further than the nearest mirror to realize who caused it.
