To the Ends of the Earth: Legacy – Week 9, Day 4 – If We Are Ashamed of Christ, He Will Be Ashamed of Us
I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
I keep the LORD always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Psalm 16:7–8
It can be easy to forget that we have an enemy who is hell-bent on our destruction. Satan, the accuser, the Father of Lies, knows how to speak words of death into the hearts of men. His purpose is to disrupt our walk and destroy our faith. He will try to use our weaknesses to make our witness frail and ineffective.
We are blessed, however, to have the word to instruct us the sacraments to strengthen us, and the Church to guide us as we work out our salvation and discover the peace of Christ and the fullness of rest in God. Our Catholic faith is like a well-watered tree whose leaves never fade, yielding fruit throughout the seasons of our lives. This fruit will help to nourish the lost so that they too will call out to God for salvation. In Christ, we become immoveable, unstoppable, unbeatable servant witnesses for the Kingdom of God.
Questions for reflection
Where has the grace of God led you to the place of abundance and peace?
How has the abundant life of God poured into your heart enabled you to be a rock-solid witness who cannot be moved by the enemy of your soul?
How can you witness to God’s never-ending care in the world around you?
Praying with Scripture
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (Jn 10:10)
