To the Ends of the Earth: Witness – Catholic Men's Devotionals, Week 6 – The Constancy of Heaven's Plan
Of old you laid the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you endure;
they will all wear out like a garment.
You change them like clothing, and they pass away;
but you are the same, and your years have no end.
The children of your servants shall dwell secure;
their posterity shall be established before you.
Psalm 102:25–28
God, who laid the earth’s foundations, will one day discard the old universe like a worn-out garment and put on a new creation. He gives the gift of resurrection to our mortal bodies through Jesus Christ. Though we are dying day by day, we are not destroyed because God is renewing our spirits and getting us ready for heaven. This powerful reality is the guiding force behind our witness to the world. Our words and our lives need to proclaim the message that only in Jesus can we find the satisfaction, permanence, and fulfillment that we seek.
If we want to live as true witnesses of God’s enduring love, we must help to loosen the grip this fading world has on those who are lost. We must call them to take hold of the only hope that can satisfy their deepest needs. Our lives should be a living testimony of what it means to have our true residence in heaven. Our joy, our perseverance, and our eternal hope can touch the broken and bind up the wounded if we truly seek to carry the unchanging message of salvation to them.
