What? You Think Catholics Don't Read the Bible?

Last Sunday marked the ‘Feast of the Blessed Holy Trinity’. Everyone knows from the time you start learning about the faith there's just no comprehending the Blessed Trinity.
As I sat there at Mass on that cloudy, rainy Sunday morning, I pondered on what the Blessed Trinity meant to me in my life and I started to formulate a picture in my mind to gain some clarity. This my fellow Catholics and Christians is what I came up with.
I saw my relationship with the Blessed Trinity in the form of a baseball game being played on an ordinary baseball diamond. I know it sounds silly, but just picture this for a moment:
A baseball diamond has four bases, right? Home plate I'll reserve as Heaven. Therefore, let's take a look then at first base. First base, I believe represents God, He who created Heaven and Earth and all of us in his likeness. Now that brings me to second. Second base I believe to be God’s only Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is like us in human form but like His Heavenly Father in divine form. When He appeared to the apostles He promised them He would always be with them just like He promised us, which now brings me to third base, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the blessed Trinity and unlike the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit is represented as a beautiful dove. I often wondered why a dove represents the Holy Spirit and I learned that the dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit working here on earth.
Now my divine baseball field has but one hitter and that's me and if I want to make a home run or at best a good hit, I'd better be ready for whatever's thrown my way. You see the Devil is my pitcher but unlike most first, second and third basemen, the One’s on my playing field are going to try to see I get that home run. I just need to make my hits count which in this case are my choices in life.
Hey! Maybe I'll just make it to first the first go round, or maybe second, but either way, I know I have the three of Them rooting for me and doing what They can to make sure I get to home plate. So as I play this fantastic Trinity baseball on my diamond field of life, I'm reminded every day about the Blessed Trinity and the wonderful Three persons unified as one pulling for me to get me to home plate.
Gee! I'd love to get a home run, but let's face it, Heaven knows, I'm no saint!
