Reading the Bible- A Helpful Habit

Rather than playing victim and dwelling in negative circumstances, think positive and appreciate what you do have. I have known people with terminal illnesses and severe physical and mental challenges. I have known people who come from very broken homes and terrible abuses. I have known people who have lost their jobs for long periods of time. There are are also people in my life who have been oppressed and discriminated against. In all of these situations that I know of, the people I know have made or are making a choice to rise above their challenges.
All of these challenges are challenges that people all over the Bible have been through. In fact, Jesus himself suffered through quite a few of these. It has been helpful for me to familiarize myself with the stories pertaining to my life. The best story pertaining to many of these hardships is when Christ carried his cross. Believe it or not, He carried his cross with joy. Whether it's depression, anxiety, a physical challenge, or another rocky situation in life, you can find something about it in the Bible.
Though it's not in the Bible, I have been reminded throughout this year that I have made it through 100% of my toughest days. It is never easy though. I constantly need to remind myself to choose joy and to think positively. A few years back, I was given a book called "Victory Over the Darkness: Realizing the Power of your Identity in Christ" by Neil Anderson. It reminded me who I was or better yet whose I was and now I want to share this message with you.
You are God's child and you are made in His image and likeness. He gives you the gift of joy and love, but sometimes our world can really shake things up and sometimes life gets really challenging. At these points it is so easy to spiral down to the negativity in our lives and to dwell there, but we have to grasp on to God's unconditional love here. If we sow good seeds in our lives and we remain positive, then we will reap a good harvest and good things will come to us as it indicates in Galatians 6:7-9.
The other message that this book conveyed affirmed the fact that you are such a great miracle. I have hyperlinked these affirmations at the bottom of the page and they really remind you of how precious you are to God (once you open the document the affirmations begin on the 3rd page). I hope you take a look at them. Are you going to let the world define you or a diagnosis or a problem or will you leave it to God? Make it a great day or not the choice is yours.
