Honoring God at Table: Laudato Si and Menu Planning

Catholic Moms of Rochester recently hosted an Adoration night: to gather with the Blessed Sacrament for an hour, then adjourn for dessert and social time. Preparing myself, I changed from my regular mom clothes into a skirt. A change in wardrobe helps to effect a change in mindset, increasing anticipation of time spent with Christ.
Arriving at the Adoration chapel, I slipped in just before another mom in our group, looking nice in jeans and a cardigan. Sitting near me, she reached into her purse and drew out her mantilla, which she quietly arranged before kneeling for prayer. I, not even owning a veil, left my head uncovered.
As I began my own meditation with Christ, I was struck by the beauty of the moment. She, in her blue jeans and mantilla, and I, with my skirt and uncovered head, coming together in reverent prayer before our Savior.
God does not see as a mortal, who sees the appearance. The Lord looks into the heart (1 Samuel 16:7b).
