Becoming Children Day 13

Searching, searching we are forever searching. It is in our DNA. We seek knowledge and understanding of the “hows” and the “whys” of the world.
We want to know what has happened before us and are curious about what will happen after us. We sometimes think that our time is the most enlightened time, and we have solved all the mysteries of the world/universe.
Did you ever stop to wonder why “searching” is so important to us?
Simply put it is how we were made. How we were created to be. If we had not been created this way, we would be a mere species of the two-legged variety.
But there is something deep within us that keeps us searching, learning and evolving. Here is the kicker, we will never know all there is to know, not in our lifetime, perhaps not in any lifetime.
There is nothing wrong with searching the unknown, seeking understanding of the “hows” and the “whys” of the world or the universe. Unless it is all a distraction to keep the human race from truly understanding the meaning of their existence.
I know, a little Twilight Zoney!! But think about it, if we are so caught up in whatever we are caught in that keeps us from focusing on the simple meaning of life, then what?
You see today’s reading is about reading the Bible. Years ago I heard an acronym, it was something like:
B - Believe
I - In
B - Before
L - Leaving
E - Earth
If we take the acronym at face value, in light of all of Christianity, meaning all Christian faith traditions, not just Catholic. Then why all the denominations?
Oh, I forgot, we are the most enlightened…group, faith, and people.
Surely, we haven’t read the Bible, much less believe in. When we believe in something, we take it at face value. We take it on faith. We believe.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Bible was written, so that we, you and I, all those who came before us, and all those who will come after us will know about the life death and resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his teachings on what is truly important and how to live.
We could get caught up in the historical value, the metaphors, the imagery or we could accept it with faith and believe trying to live out its teachings in our lives.
Isn’t that enough?
