Blue Economy in Lent Part 2

Let's remember the ideal, what "must be", that we all have employment, we all have health, we all have education....we all have God in our hearts.

Well, it seems we haven't gotten there yet. We have chosen the easier decisions, the projects and enterprises of our first ideas leading us to "rent-abilities", but not to communities. We are like a mathematical operation: we are divided.

But, What can we do? Well, there are some lights that appear in the space, in the universe, that enlighten our road, our societies, like Gunter Pauli says: "there are a lot of sacred cows to move away".

A clear and real example of this possibility is my loved Colombia. Have you heard about "Las Gaviotas"? It is a huge area where there is water and free food and fuel, coal credits, exportations, and safe living. All the people ride bikes, have solar heaters, embrace life, have progress, social capital; they're community. All this renewal came after these lands were devastated, exhausted by the wood cutting. But today Las Gaviotas contains 2000 employees, a biodiversity of 250 species, and is highly scalable, as this project could expand to a 15 million increase in employment by applying this same bussiness model.

Think about the Songhai Center of Father Godfrey Nzamujo, where the electric network is complemented with bio-gas, as digestors and autochthonous and invasive water treatment plants, and biological waste treatment too. Farms of larvaes are fed with slaughterhouse waste, and are converted into nourishment for quail and fishes. In addition, the enzymes of the larvae are supplied to sanitary companies for wound treatments. These applications currently attract various employees, and provide similar scalibility. Or what about the possibility of being able to convert Carbon Dioxide (pollution) into food and biofuel through the Spirulina Algae, or possibility to create painless injections as a mosquito sting? What about using ecologic water treatment with plants, fishes, mushrooms and bacteria? What about using recyclable glass for construction? What about traffic jams being solved by studying the behaviour of insects swarms,. what if.., what if...?

Definitely I found a lot of similarity between relationships and Catholicism through Lenten Practices, because as we disregard nature and its sapience, we may not have given much value to the wealth of faith. Do you believe fasting is worthless, has little value? Yet being bad, may appear to gain a lot. However, it is not possible to really gain a lot from bad behavior. I have learned that God let's us grow spiritually, bringing us closer. Fasting, dying to ourselves, or experiencing change, increases our devotion to live in God, to evangelize. We are protected. We are, as a way to saying, armored against the enemy's darts, and conversions to Catholicism occur, miracles occur, and stone hearts become soft flesh through Fasting, Charity, Prayer, Penitence.

Siimilar to examples named above, where nobody has to pay a cent, value is decreased, the same thing happens in our Catholic Church. When nobody makes an investment in something, they don't appreciate it, they may even believe it is disastrous, boring; and definitely there is too much to do. However, it is from these few examples of how through these little acts, that we can show so much spiritual fruit that is needed for societies, for the salvation of the world, and for our redemption.

So, please, don't disregard God, the love, the hugs, the kisses, the exhortations, the fraternal corrections, the vigils, the words of affection, the listening, the silence, the family, the encounter, the community, the Confession, the Mass, the liturgy, the saints, Saint Mary, Saint Joseph, the friends, the parks. But over all, let us not disregard Jesus, his divine presence, the Holy Eucharist. There we see him fragile, small, insignificant, motionless, not almighty. Yet it is enough with your grain of mustard seed that God will make marvelous things, move mountains, explode in volcanoes of love into your life. He made himself little because if he showed himself transfigured, we wouldn't be able to endure so much grace.
