The Christmas Prayer

Jesus, I was there, when they sentenced You to die,
when they scourged You and spit on You,
I looked You in the eye.
Jesus, I walked with You. Do You remember me?
I watched them as they placed that crown of thorns on top Your head,
and made You carry that heavy cross,
I wanted to help You, but I was scared,
Do You remember me Jesus? I walked with You.
I saw Your Mother weep for You
and Simon help You when you fell,
And I saw Veronica wipe Your face,
I remember it real well.
Jesus, I walked with You. Do You remember me?
Again You fell a second time, and a third time ‘long the way,
You stopped and spoke to those women who were weeping for You that day,
Jesus, I walked with You. Do You remember me?
They stripped You of your garments, and they nailed You to that tree,
I watched them my Lord, Jesus,
do You remember me? I walked with You.
For hours You hung there, and at three o’clock, You cried,
to Your Father up in Heaven, “It is finished, then You died,
Do You remember me Jesus? I walked with You.
I remember how the earth shook, Lord,
I was so alarmed,
and I saw them place Your lifeless body in Your mother's arms,
I remember Jesus. I walked with You.
And then I saw them carry You and place You in a tomb,
I remember that day Jesus, it was a rainy afternoon.
Do You remember me Jesus? I walked with You.
But gloriously, You conquered death, like You promised You would do,
and You promised us eternal life,
if we would follow You,
I believed You, Jesus, because I walked with You. Do You remember me?
As I gaze at each station of the cross and celebrate Your victory,
I'm glad Jesus I walked with You, and I pray,
You remember me!
To all my fellow Catholics everywhere, isn’t it wonderful that when we think about that very first Easter, we can rejoice in knowing that we can celebrate in the knowledge that Jesus has risen and that if we follow Him, He will give us eternal life with Him.
I can! because He promised, when I walked with Him.
Sincerely, in God’s love, Michelle
