Just Offer It UP

This reading really hits home for me. As it has been an issue in our house for many, many years. What is most important people or things?
On the surface it really is a no brainer and most of us would answer “people” of course!! But when we delve into the issue, things like a roof over our head, food to eat, and clothes on our backs are important too. Providing the necessities for the family is also important.
I know this is not what the intention of this reflection is about but it is where the Lord is leading me.
Work is an important, essential part of life. Husbands and now many wives contribute monetarily to the family. While an important necessity, we must look at how this trend affects the people in our lives, the ones we are working hard to provide for.
We have this issue in our house, the amount of time spent at work versus the amount of time spent building relationships and memories.
Family dinner is important, it might be the only 15 minutes of the day when everyone is together. Prayer before these meals might be the only tradition that will survive after we are gone, even though the family might whine about having to do it.
Life has become so individualized even within them family that we now have to schedule family time!!! It truly is that crazy!! At least in our family!!
So when we stop to think what truly drives us compared to what we claim is truly important to us, we might not like what we see.
That’s okay, because if we see it, we can decide what kinds of changes we can make to get our lives and priorities back in order. Don’t rush the process, as Our Lord is very patient with us, so we must be patient with each other.
And Pray!
