Poetry: "Battlefield"

I’m putting on my armor
I’m polishing up my shield
I feel my heart start to stir
I’m ready for the battlefield
Ready to take this fight
To duel with the evil one
Who’s attacking me, my family
To pull us away from Jesus, Your Son
I’m the defender you can see
Protecting the those that I love
The most crucial role a man can be –
Is a sentinel for Our God Above.
I’m sharpening up my sword
I’m preparing my bow and arrow
Ready to fight for my Lord
Ready to let The Holy Spirit flow
I’m ready for the battlefield
Focused on the task at hand
From that goal I will not yield
For you must try to understand
I must get this victory achieved
For the stakes are real, not perceived
Get my family to heaven above all
From this battle I’ll persevere, not fall
