St. Hildegard
Her music was for those who could not see,
Her illuminations for those who could not hear,
Her poetry for those whose hearts had grown cold,
Her letters for those seeking wisdom, prayer,
and strength to be hold.
Her sermons for those longing for comfort and peace,
and the darts of the devil to finally cease,
Her play the ‘Ordo Virtutum’ a drama of Virtues,
for those who wait for their heavenly cues,
Her white head band and nun’s holy cape,
did not go and did not escape,
From the sick and infirmed who looked to her,
to be treated with herbs and plants for a possible cure,
Woman of God, henceforth return so I will know,
when your hand is on my troubled brow,
From the sickbed to rise, so that I,
again can see the sun, the moon and sky
You followed Gods visions for your many deeds,
to help mankind with their numerous needs,
O’ Gods little feather, blowing in the wind and up on high,
remember us, who suffer heavy hearts, broken wings and
cannot fly,
You dear lady, are gently taken where the Lord may please,
gather us and take us with you
upon the next breeze.
