The Power of Three

Remember all those M&M chocolate commercials? Just like Saint Thomas they doubted until they saw for themselves. That is what it takes many a person to believe in someone or something out of their realm of possibility. For many of us others, we have grown accustom to going on a great amount of faith. Our minds are aware of His presence even if we do not see Him physically. Others need cold, hard evidence just to believe in a grain of sand.
Imagine for a moment that you find yourself walking along a beach somewhere contemplating your place in life and in the majesty of the world around you. You are moved by something unseen to pick up a seashell and listen to the sound of an echoing wave. Oh, you know that this is just background noise but you believe it just the same. What moved you? Who moved you? Did you come about this idea from your own decision or was it something that just happened?
Many of us go through life with blinders on and fail to see or feel His presence in our everyday life. As a believer or non-believer, aren’t you the slightest bit intrigued by the idea that there was a true force guiding you through life. The sun, the stars or any belief system you have is a reason to believe He could be there with you. It is all about the possibilities someone once said. There is probable cause and effect of a touch leading to another humble action and then to another, and so on.
For me, as a believer in Christ, I am not bound by the earthly shackles of my own limitations. I am in this world but not of this world, so I am free to exercise my passions without the constraints of time, distance and physical presence. I adapt to most situations in my life through the power of simple prayer and of doing good by my neighbor. Two small acts given to us by our creator. Even the adversarial would agree they have wished or done something profound and have felt all the more compelled to accomplish that much more.
We all are free to choose our path, to go whether or not we are willing. At least for myself, I have been set free, unleashed and flooded with so many wonderful blessings. If His amazing grace can save a man as hardened as John Newton, He can change anyone.
Imagine being at sea aboard a slave ship, waves crashing into the boat, lighting all around. There may be no hope for rescue; you feel time and life slipping away. What would your last thoughts be? Of your family, of your friends, of something you said or did that may have been hurtful to someone you cared little or nothing about?
You would change, you would feel the need to reach down deep inside and wish for a forgiving end to what is going on around you. You may come to the conclusion, realist, believer, sinner or saint that He does exist. Even within the slightest realm of possibility, someone is there with you at your hour of need – whether it or He be physical or spiritual.
May He be with you, and even if you may not believe in Him, remember, He has never stopped believing in you. May His peace be with you, always.
