Cracks and Lent

Lent has begun. People are trying to get used to sacrificing, spending extra time in prayer, and not eating meat on Friday's. There is always a lot of discussion about whether Sunday's count as a day of Lent. Some think it does, while others don't. There are those who sacrifice on Sunday, and those who don't. So can you celebrate on Sunday or not?
According to the Conference of Bishops, Sunday does not count as a day of Lent. If it did, there would be more than 40 days. Yes, it's good to put your sacrificing into practice and include Sunday's as a way to get used to doing that. But each Sunday when we go to Mass, we are remembering our Lord's resurrection. So Sunday is a day of celebration. It is not therefore required that we sacrifice on Sunday.
I grew up not considering Sunday a day of Lent. Sunday was special, and on that day, we could indulge in whatever we gave up for Lent. But I know that not everyone feels the same way or does the same thing. It is always interesting to hear the different views about that. Some agree, some disagree.
Whether or not you choose to celebrate or not, my hope is that everyone realizes the sacrifice of Lent, and the joy of Sunday.
