With much excitement and anticipation, I present to you this introductory blog posting. The title above includes words from the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen (The Relevance of God). Before starting this, I envisioned what my first word should be and decided on God. I can’t go wrong by choosing God! Then I read Sheen’s quote later, and my decision was completed. I have found a recent devotion for his intercession for a family member; may he grant a miraculous cure soon, and also re-start the progress on his cause for sainthood. Welcome friends!
Please take a few moments to read my bio page if you haven’t already done so. As you learn more about who I am and the activities I do, you will also learn about some of the varied sources of my inspiration for these articles. My goal is simply to bring readers closer to God; by doing this, I give all glory and honor to Him who creates and sustains us. Perhaps you will simply smile, laugh, or find inspiration for your spiritual journey in my writings.
In the last few years of my life, I was personally blessed by people who said “I will pray for you, Robert.” What a lovely gift to receive even one simple prayer offering! To my friends and family who supported me to begin this new endeavor, I give a heartfelt “Thank You!” So I say this to everyone: Pray for me, as I will pray for you kindly in return. My prayers are not because you chose to suffer through my writing! God tells us this is the right thing to do:
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”James 5:16 (NIV)
Furthermore, we learn from Jesus to pray to our Father in heaven in Matthew 6:9, and we recite the 16th - century derived version today. We know the names of Jesus and Mary by themselves are powerful prayers when we can’t say or think of any longer ones.
Lastly, I send a little prayer to God: Thanks be to God and may He bless us all this day and all of our days ahead, Amen!
