Zeal
Growing up in a loving Catholic household my father taught me early on about the need for perfection in everything I did. My father being a wise man, also made sure I learnt that being perfect does not mean that I spent so much time on perfecting, that nothing gets done. So how can we be perfect, do everything on time, honor God and be a contributing member of the society?
It all comes down to our heart. How we do one thing, often determines how we do everything! Perfection simply means that knowing in your heart that you have geniuniely made an honest effort to do the absolute best you could in the allotted amount of time. Joe Rogan in a podcast with Elon Musk showed Elon a Samurai sword that was hundreds of years old. That sword was in perfect condition even after all these years of it being handed over from person to person. If you think about it, could the person who made the sword hammered it one more time to make it more perfect? What if he hammered in ten more times? The answer is definetly 'No'. God has blessed us with time on our earthly life to keep us on check and we can use time to our advantage by allocating certain amount of time to each task we do and then doing each of our tasks perfectly by knowing in our hearts that we did the best we could.
"So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect" - Matthew 5:48
