We Can't Buy a House in Heaven

Imagine our God doing selfie shots, there would be violent reactions I bet! Why would God do such act? I, myself had posted selfie shots too. Who doesn’t? Our generation today saves all the good picturesque shots taken by “smart” phones or the digital single-lens-reflex (DSLR) in the highest image level. Then I thought, what if God wiould take selfie photos with us? Without hesitation, we would clog the internet and bombard it with our illuminating faces.
But our God is never selfish. He would not take any pictures all by Himself with just a single frame. And the picture of us is moving, every second, every day. His love for us cannot be contained, as He made the Universe. He made us out of love, for the glory of His love. He made not just you and me, but all the single souls that He would like to care for. Selfie photos are a reminder for me of being focused, of being in the spotlight, or the center of attention. Yet, it is a reminder for me that even without this attention, there’s always a God that works without a camera focusing on Him.
The Lord is so unselfish that he made us to have biological, psychological, spiritual characteristics, and the capacity to lend our hands in help to each other. Yet, when we only focus on ourselves, these attributes will only remind us, that our skills and talents will stagnate. When we open our eyes and just choose to perceive the selfie good shots, we won’t be able to see the natural or candid happy shots. What about the sense of hearing? Will we forget to listen? To feel? To smell? Our Saviour doesn’t want us to revolve our lives around ourselves. He wants us to feel the moment. He wants us to listen, not just to hear. He wants us to understand, not just to see. He wants us to focus, not only in our lives, but to extend our lives even without any cameras to capture our actions. He wants us to live and to be free from any form of vanity.
I have no qualms of doing selfie shots, as long as it does not impose any malicious or nasty pretense. We don’t need to fake anything for the Almighty, we just need to let go the hateful things of being selfish. He wants us to be positive about life, leave unselfishness behind, and share our blessings in any form, in any kind, in anytime with or without photos.
There’s no camera or light beam that will show the true meaning of our lives; only the real value for ourselves and the relationships that we built from God and offer to God.
