UNITY

Unity with The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) is ours for the asking. “Never let me be parted from you.”

That does not replace the Sacrament of the Eucharist, but does remind us of Jesus promise that He will be always with us. And, because we are addressing Jesus personally, it takes on an intimacy of union with Him.

As we celebrate the Feast of the “Corpus Christi,” we can begin to approach Him with that same Spiritual Communion:

“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

And I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least 

Spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”

God have mercy on us

Jesus possess us

Holy Ghost dwell in us

Immaculate Mother Mary be our refuge

St. Joseph be our protector

St. Micael be our defender

Guardian Angel be our guide

All you Angels and Saints pray for us and for all God's children who are, have been, and will be.

As satisfying as the resulting unity of hearts can be, partaking in Holy Communion transcends any words used to describe the intimacy of the particular Unity of the sacramental meal.

One favorite practice that I hope to exercise this vigil of Corpus Christi Sunday is to make a good Confession, receive Absolution, perform my Penance, and participate in the Mass whence i can receive Holy Communion.

I anticipate that thrill of purity and unity embodied by receiving the Eucharistic Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Words desert me in trying to describe how that blessed intimacy with God impacts me. It is rather as I  imagine being in Heaven must be like. 

An overwhelming anticipation begins deep inside my person when the gifts are brought to the altar. The feeling grows as the bread is raised to the Lord. Warmth of the union with God grows as water and wine are mixed in the way that we, His people, are united with the Blood of Our Savior. A kind of personal ascent rises from within as the Body and Blood are consecrated by the priest and made into the Body and Blood of Christ. A celebration of oneness emerges from somewhere within to a conscious realization that I am about to consume the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Holy Communion. . . 

In Him, and with Him, and through Him. . . I am transported as the Host passes my lips and Our Unity is complete. Amen
