Ornaments for My Spiritual Christmas Tree

Matthew 8:8
But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed"
For all Catholics, this passage should be familiar. The root of these words are what we say at every Eucharistic celebration before receiving Jesus. But are we really ever worthy to receive Him?
When I hear these words, I pray to myself
Lord, I am not ever worthy to receive you. But because you allow me to have this opportunity every time I choose to attend Mass, my soul can be healed. Because you love me unconditionally, by your Son you have made me worthy to receive Jesus in body, blood, soul and divinity. Let me be nourished by this holy food each time I receive and everyday until you call me home. O sacrament most holy, o sacrament divine, all praise and all thanksgiving, be every moment thine. Amen.
God , through His Son, gives us all that we need to not only be strengthened and fed with the the bread of Jesus but to be healed through his mercy. In this statement, we are asked to have faith in God's plan for us all. Only when God says the words are we healed. We say this with faith that God will provide for us.
So, the next time you say those words, think about what you are about to experience. We only need to ask and we will receive. We are never worthy but God loves us anyway. In His eyes, we are his children and we are worthy to receive Him and His Son. Put your house in order so that when Jesus asks to visit, we are as ready as we can be.
