Intellectuals are Intelligent, but are They Smart??

Resonance, according to the American Heritage College Dictionary: “the increase in amplitude of oscillation of an electric or mechanical system due to a periodic force whose frequency is equal or very close to the natural or undamped frequency of the system.”  How’s about penetration of sound?  Would you understand that explanation of resonance?  Some people said they thought I was an intellectual.   If you saw my S.A.T. scores from high school, you’d know better.  I played sports and go to church.  I believe that makes me more intelligent than I would have been.

My wife had to look that word up in the dictionary.  She did so because some instructor used this word in an effort to explain something in a public speaking work book used for Catholic sermons and speeches.  Yes, the word resonance was probably appropriate, but the dictionary definition certainly a bit much.   I had a job once while I was a youth and was not that proud of it.  So, I enhanced its definition to give me some status.  As far as I saw it, I had a position in community relations outreach and administrative liaison for recreational foods; ie., a Good Humor ice cream man, ringing bells and selling ice cream cones to neighborhood children in an ice cream truck.  It’s essentially what this all is; that is, making something appear as it isn’t.  

Jesus didn’t talk this way. Everyone, across the spectrum of the educated and the uneducated, intellectual and the simple, understood him.  He used words without complication and parables to make his points.  If you were tuned in to Him, you got it.  If not tuned in to Him, not so much.  It was a matter of listening and listening with your heart.  It was for everyone who had a heart for listening.   

Matthew 5:  37 “But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.”

Which brings to mind the stupidity of college Ph. D.’s today with their political correctness and ideological impositions upon their students and our society.   Listening to Jesus slices through all this ideology being pushed upon us.  The simplicity of His message penetrates any and all ideologies as they fall by the wayside.  Our university college professors love to hear themselves talk and analyze everything, probably over analyze.   They’ll harp on everything and never get to the point.  They miss the point.  They use ideology to explain it all and leave logic behind.  And sometimes too much knowledge leads to confusion; just no sense to it.  Maybe that is being too smart for their own good.  Defunding the police is just one example.

Their practical education is deficient.  They still don’t know Marxism does not work.  Literature professors can’t paint a wall or fix the plumbing. Psychology professors believe gender can change.  Sociologist professors support the dispensing of free drugs for the homeless addicts in Seattle and L. A. Learning outside the walls of the university is distant to them.    The university scene in general rant and rave about global warming, 40 years after they ranted and raved over global freezing. Finally, they’ll look everywhere for answers except biblical scripture.  Is there no wonder?  And it appears the arrogance of their thinking hoodwink and bamboozle their students, our children.  

Scripture assures us of what life is all about.  We are here to know, love and serve the Lord.  All things flow from it - not from Karl Marx. 

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  

In this way our children won’t fall for false teachings.  Smart and so simple.
