Finding The Gold

For the past week, I've been watching the various events that Pope Francis was at. On Facebook, and during the Pope's visit, one common theme was love. Love is our mission. It is why we are here. It was why God created us. It should be what we are trying to do every day of our lives.
I'm no expert on love, but I have noticed that some radiate love more than others. Some are naturals at, and certainly make love their mission each day. One of those people in my life is one of my heroes. She has a strong but quiet faith. And through many storms, she has learned strength, but also love. She is surrounded by love, knows how much God loves all of us, and loves abundantly. By living her life, and by being herself, she teachers others about love, and shows what love really is.
Love does not have to be hard or complicated. It can and often is about the little things; a smile, a hug, getting someone something to eat, saying hello, accepting someone who is different, or praying for someone. Love does not have to be extraordinary. And Pope Francis while he was here proved that. He went up to the different, the youing, the homeless, and the hurting and embraced them. He makes love his mission. But he does it in simple ways. He doesn't make it hard. Neither does my hero. She does it simply, but it's obvious how much she loves people and how much people love her in return. And that is what we all need to do. We need God's love. We need to make love our mission every day, not just when we feel like it. The world needs love. The lonely need love. The different need love. The unloved need love. And the whole world needs more of love and less of the world.
