Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has fallen gravely ill and Pope Francis has called on the world to pray for him at this time. This dear holy man needs our prayers as he prepares to meet the Lord at the end of his life on earth.
Let us take a moment to pray for him for health at this time.
Let us pray.
Almighty and Eternal God.
We come before you at this time to pray for your dear servant Benedict during this time of his sickness.
Lord, we implore the aid of your mercy. We thank you for the gift of his life, as your servant, and most for his great love of you and of the people of God.
We trust you, Lord, in everything.
At this time, we ask you to come close to your servant. We pray that he feels and knows of your presence during this time of suffering and of waiting.
We pray for all those who are working to assist him to continue on and to trust you in all ways.
We pray that the people of God come together in a mighty way to pray in unison for our beloved Benedict.
May the Blessed Mother stay close and pray for this dear servant of God.
We trust you in all things, Lord Jesus, and we continue to pray together with the whole universal church for your dear one.
We ask this in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
