God is Faithful

He loved me first. That’s a remarkable statement considering I’m a sinner. God loved me first. He chose me first before I even knew Him. I know this to be true because my soul affirms it and scripture attests to it: “We love because he first loved us,” (1 John 4:19). I was known by God before I knew about Him. He chose me as His child to love and to care for. I had proof of Him in my life before I had the faith to believe in Him. It’s like He showed me that He was real before requiring me to have faith in Him. That’s reasonable isn’t it? God created me for love and to love and He showed me the way first:
“God who created man out of love also calls him to love the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being. For man is created in the image and likeness of God who is himself love. Since God created him man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man. It is good, very good, in the Creator's eyes. And this love which God blesses is intended to be fruitful and to be realized in the common work of watching over creation: "And God blessed them, and God said to them: 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it,'” (CCC 1604).
God’s initiative resulted in my coming to know the Creator of life. Without His choosing me I would never have known about Him. For those of us who are chosen, rejoice in the great gift that is Christ! We know Christ because He revealed Himself to us by the power of the Holy Spirit and through grace!
