Before coming to college, I didn't have a personal relationship with Christ. I knew what it meant to be a Christian and Catholic, but that's about the extent of it. I was born and raised Catholic and attended Catholic school kindergarden through seventh grade.
When it was time for me to get Confirmed, I opted out of doing it because it was something my mom was pushing and I didn't see the big deal in it. Once I got to college, I joined a Christian sorority that helped me get back on my feet with going to church. Through that organization I met another girl who was Catholic and started attending Mass with her.
After a few months, I realized how much I enjoyed Mass and decided that I wanted to be Confirmed. After getting Confirmed, I attended an awakening retreat at Texas State University. During that weekend, I came to discover what it meant to have a personal relationship with Christ. While at the retreat, I met a lot of amazing people and a few who were involved with an organization called FOCUS - Fellowship of Catholic University Students.
Knowing that I was so on fire for Christ, I decided to join FOCUS so that I could continue to feed my spiritual hunger. Through FOCUS, I got plugged into a Bible study and joined their one-on-one mentorship program.
FOCUS has and continues to play a crucial role in my walk with Christ. The people involved with FOCUS are the most authentic, virtuous people I have never met.
Without FOCUS, I wouldn't be where I am today.
