Praising Through Pain
"For I know that my redeemer liveth and that He shall stand on the latter day upon the earth." Job 19:25(KJV)
Here is Job, a perfect and upright man, once the greatest of all the men of the East, pursued by the devil with implacable enmity, accused by his friends, reproached by man, and condemned by divine justice. Here is Job, a man in pain, burdened by sore boils, tormented by the loss of every single thing he had acquired in life, and seduced by the devil to deny his allegiance to God and renounce his integrity. Picture him there, in the dust, dejected and alone.
Yet in the midst of the storm, he lifted his eyes to the heavens and with a soft smile whispered to the wind, "I know that my Redeemer Lives" not that he heard, or he felt, or he dreamt that somewhere a force in the universe controlled the earth, no that he knew! He had tasted of his powers, he had seen him in the rain, he had encountered Him in each break of dawn, he had experienced his love kiss the earth in nature so softly, so beautifully... He knew Him, he knew His God, the God who is still very much alive! And because He lives, we shall live also. John 14:19 (KJV)
Our Redeemer Lives. He lives to speak and tame the raging seas that seem to overwhelm us.
He lives to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.
He lives to comfort us when we get caught deep in the valley of chaos.
He lives to redeem us when despair and anxiety seem to hold us ransom.
He lives to bless us with his everlasting love when relationships cause a wreck to our hearts
He lives to free us from the bonds of loneliness, depression, low self-esteem, and fear. He Lives! Our prophet! Our Priest! Our King! Our Father! Our Confidence! Our Ebenezer!
God did not forget Joseph in the dark dungeons of the Egyptian prisons. (Gen 39:21)
God did not forget Moses in the desert after fleeing from Pharoah. (Exodus 3:2)
God did not even forget Lot in Sodom. (Gen 19:12)
He hasn't forgotten us. He has our names inscribed in the very palms of His hands. He sees us here, He wants us near, He wants to hold us with love in the hollow of His hands.
Job remained spotless and uncompromising even after he had lost everything in life - his wealth, his health, his family, his friends, his servants, his home - he stayed strong and faithful and trusted God for restoration even though he had no idea what was going on behind the scenes. One thing that helped him pull through was his confidence in who God was. He knew God as his personal Redeemer.
Do we know God personally?
Are we convinced that our God is Alive?
Do we believe that our lives are not a coincidence and we were known before we were born?
Do we know that God has plans to redeem and restore us?
In Jeremiah 29:11, God said He knows the thoughts that He thinks toward us. Thoughts of peace, and not of evil, thoughts to give us an expected end.
We have been redeemed to be remembered. Let us stand on this hope that God is for us and not against us.
