Rediscover Jesus Day 2

Who am I?
Today I am a blank sheet of paper waiting for the Lord to write my life into existence.
Sounds totally new age and profound, right? But the fact of the matter is that the Lord writes each moment into existence for our benefit and His Glory.
He does this by preparing moments in our day that give us the choice to either go with it or resist.
Our natural inclination is to resist. We like to think we know what is best for us and yes, sometimes the answer is to resist. But that is not what I am talking about here.
Imagine it is a crazy hectic morning and your child really wants to tell you something, but you are trying to get them out the door, yourself dressed and you have a million things on your to-do list.
The choice, stop and listen [perhaps 30 seconds] or resist, claiming we are late and need to get going.
LATE FOR WHAT? A man made deadline, our own agenda, a detour in our routine?
The interruptions can come in a number of different forms, but the choice is always the same; embrace the interruption or resist it.
Most of us miss the miniscule opportunities that are given to us each day to watch our lives being written into existence.
To become familiar with the Holy Spirit we must practice the spiritual discipline of docility. This makes us pliable and teachable instead of rigid and routine.
To become a docile (pliable/teachable) person is hard to do as it goes against our very nature. We must dispose ourselves to receive the moments of our lives as they come and trust that all will be well, like a little child.
Unless we become like little children, you cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. [Mathew 18] Truth is we spend our whole lives trying to grow up and Our Lord is saying to become like a little child and trust him. Trusting is hard, giving up control and walking where he leads is hard, because we have our own plans on how our day is going to look. But that is what He is asking us to learn how to do.
However, this does not mean we give up our routine as the Holy Spirit comes to us where we are, we do not need to seek him; we just need to become attune to him.
Attuning ourselves to the Spirit is trial and error, as it is with all things. When we can accept and embrace the daily interruptions as given for our benefit, giving up our own agenda, we will be shown that everything is in His control which will increase our trust. We will come to know Him, because it will be a choice and our natural response will be to resist.
When we comply with the Sprit, we see our day flowing in ways that are unimaginable and magical. He takes us places we would never imagine we would go and still have time for our familial responsibilities. We even find we have energy left over.
Another way to describe it; The Spirit adds hours to our days.
Docility to the Holy Spirit comes more naturally to some as to others but is a trait that can be learned by all.
