Perpetual Sanctification (part 1)

We never really like to think about how our actions affect others. We tend to think that in most situations we are calm, cool, collected and right! We are, after all; human!
In my last reflection, I talked about how to detach from the Judas’s in our lives from the perspective of how these relationships affected us.
Today, we will reflect on how our behaviors may be Judas’s for someone else. I would like to point out, that these types of relationships offer something for each person involved. So the relationships that we feel are disordered are also cause for disorder in the other person’s life too.
We often do not think about it in this way, as relationships are rarely healthy. If they were then we would have world peace.
We must contemplate our contribution to the disorder. This is hard because it causes us to admit that we are not perfect, do not have all the answers and may not be the most lovable person at times. I say get over it...and welcome to life!!
Satan likes to keep us thinking that it is always someone else that needs changed, healed or to grow up.....but what about us? How would we rate ourselves according to our own standards, let alone God's?
We may find that we cause as much pain as we receive. Or we may find that we are truly not at fault. It doesn't really matter if we come to a definitive conclusion, what does matter is that we start looking at our own impulses, responses and actions. Do they measure up to what we think we are, what we, ourselves, hold others to?
Believe me, this is not for the faint of heart, because sometime we might not like what we see. Because by seeing/knowing it; we cannot un-know it about ourselves, causing us to make a choice...to grow or not.
St. John Paul II said that we are called to Holiness....with a "W". We are all called to Wholeness.
To become 'whole' means that we see and accept ourselves as we are. The good, bad and ugly. Acknowledging our shortcomings and we rejoicing in our gifts, always praising God that we are beautifully and wonderfully made.
However, the process of becoming “Whole/Holy” is a lifelong process. With many dips and turns in the road. Always accepting what the Lord reveals to us, knowing that we have a choice to grow in His image and likeness or not.
We must realize all of us are on this journey, whether we are consciously aware of it or not. It’s what it means to be human and cannot be escaped. If we are one of the lucky ones, we know this journey, have embraced it and actively strive to know ourselves better.
Embracing with complete and utter trust, that whatever is happening in our lives right now is for our benefits and His Glory.
